Kindle Cover

I am really excited to do my very first post here on Curds n Whey! My husband and I are going on a trip soon and being the avid readers that we are, we recently bought kindles so that we wouldn't have to pack a bunch of books. I wanted to make something cute for my kindle to go in so I headed to the fabric store to buy some really cute fabric and this is what I came up with. I hope you like it. Its cute, yet functional.

Here is what you will need:
       7 inch zipper
Two pieces of out side fabric measuring 9x61/2
Two pieces of inside fabric measuring 9x61/2
Two pieces of felt or fleece measuring 9x61/2
Two pieces of interfacing measuring 9x61/2

Place interfacing between your outside fabric and felt/fleece and iron them together. This will hold the two pieces together.

After you have ironed your fleece/felt to your outside fabric lay it down on a work surface with the outside fabric facing down. Line your zipper along the side measuring 61/2 inches making sure the top of the zipper is facing down. Then line up your inside fabric and lay it on top of your zipper and outside fabric. Make sure your inside fabric is face down as well.

Sew along the edge making sure you go through all three layers. Outside fabric, zipper, and inside fabric.

See my seam there along the right side? Repeat those steps sewing your other two layers of fabric to your zipper.

Next open your zipper about half way. Then fold your case so that your two outside fabrics are facing each other and your two inside fabrics are facing each other.

Sew along all four edges with a 1/2 in seam allowance. Make sure to leave a four inch opening along the bottom of your inside fabric so that you can turn it inside out when its time.

Sorry, I didn't take a picture of where your 4 inch opening should be. Just imagine it there along the top of that green fabric. Cut your corners and trim the edges a bit and then turn it inside out through that 4 inch opening. Poke out all your corners and then either machine sew that opening closed or hand stitch it closed.

Push your inside fabric down inside your case and you are finished!!! Now you have a super cute case to carry your kindle around in!

Thanks for letting me show you how to do this kindle case. Have fun making your own!
